SkinsRestorer can apply a Minecraft skin from a direct image URL. The safest workflow validates the PNG first, keeps the URL quoted and gives URL permissions only to users who need them.

Prepare a valid skin file

Use a real PNG file with standard Minecraft dimensions: usually 64×64 for modern skins or 64×32 for legacy layouts. A renamed JPG is not a valid PNG. Keep the file small, avoid unnecessary metadata and preview it before upload.

Understand the /upload workflow

The project upload page can turn a local PNG into a copyable `/skin url` command. The service uploads the image through its supported skin-generation flow and returns a URL that should remain wrapped in quotation marks when pasted in game.

Use a direct URL

When a skin is already hosted at a public direct PNG address, use the URL command. The server must be able to reach that address without a login page, redirect wall or temporary session token.

Useful command examples

Apply a classic or auto-detected skin from a direct PNG URL.

/skin url "https://example.com/skin.png"

Apply the same PNG using the slim arm model.

/skin url "https://example.com/skin.png" slim

/skin upload

Choose classic or slim

Classic uses the standard four-pixel Steve-style arms. Slim uses the three-pixel Alex-style arms. Automatic detection can work, but adding the intended variant prevents obvious arm-texture errors.

Restrict URL access

The relevant URL command permission is more sensitive than a basic named-skin command. Administrators can also restrict accepted domains in configuration. This reduces abuse, broken links and untrusted content sources.

Troubleshoot invalid URL errors

Confirm that the link opens the image directly, the file is a PNG, the URL is quoted and the host is allowed by configuration. Rate-limit messages are different from validation errors; wait before retrying repeated generation requests.

Protect player privacy

A skin image is public appearance data, but server owners should still avoid collecting files through unrelated contact systems. This website includes no upload form and no email link; use the documented in-game or project upload process instead.
